I purchased a used silver logo key for my 2008 Prius. I still have one original working silver logo SKS smart key, and wish to program the second (replacent for lost key). They both have the same model and IC numbers. I need the programming instructions. Also, will this used key work as a smart key or do I have to buy a NEW silver logo sks key.

It's actually the car that gets programmed to accept a new key. Very few locksmiths have the necessary communication equipment so most likely you will need a dealer.

Some dealers will do this for free, some will charge $200, and some are incompetent, in which case find a different one or insist that they contact Toyota directly for help. See for example the following (note that poster "galaxee" is a certified Prius technician):

A used Smart key can only be programmed as a 'dumb' key, i.e., you can insert it into the slot to start the car, but the buttons on the fob will not work. If you want a spare Smart key, you will have to buy it from a dealer and have them program the car to accept the new fob

Can I program my dumb key? I've tride the key in 5 times and door open 6 times thing. I couldn't get the car into program mode. I wanna save a buck here.
