Hi all,
I had some work done on my 2008 Prius and when I got it back the whole gas guage (all the bars) are flashing. Does anyone know what this means?

It means they did something wrong, and need to undo it.

I'm not trying to be snide, I just have little patience with inattentive and incompetent shops.

What work did you have done? By whom? It's under warranty, so I assume a dealer?

I agree!! I paid over $3200 for a Toyota dealership to change 3 computers, the battery and fix nothing. Before I find a different dealership, I am trying to figure out what may be wrong so I can go in somewhat informed. I have contacted the shop and asked them to give me a list of the codes present before they replaced the computers and give me a kind of flow chart as to the troubleshooting they went to that led them to believe the computers needed changing. Since nothing seems to be fixed, I also asked them to give me a list of the codes that are still present.
My car was in a medium front end collision and the warranty has been voided.

Did you put in a claim to your/their insurance companies? All this is damage from the accident and should be covered.

I bought the car from an auction. There is no warranty and as I said, not happy with the results from my last "Toyota service" experience. The gas gauge blinks in a sequence of 3/3 time.
It goes,
on*off
on*off
off*off
and then repeats the sequence. Any ideas?

The gauge can be calibrated, though I do not remember the sequence of buttons that triggers a cal. Perhaps the car knows it needs a cal? I never heard of this, but it's possible.

EDIT: Found it on PC:

Oddly enough, when I got the car back from the dealership there was instructions in it on how to set the inclination sensor. It appears to be the same as your instructions, just mine seem like they were written in a foreign language and then poorly translated. Here are a few steps from my instruction sheet.

Step 6. Push again the switch and keep pusing it more than 5 seconds.
Step 7. When it finished, there is "1" indication on the third figure in 5 figures. After this indication appeared, release the switch.
Step 8. After 5 seconds passed from "1" indication appeared, "TRIP", "A" indication appears and the meter return to normal condition automatically

Do the Toyota techs really have to follow instructions like this? No wonder they had trouble fixing my car:) Anyhow, I did follow the instructions and believe I have set the incination sensor. Did I mention that they changed my 12v battery? Could that have anything to do with anything?

Yes, a dying 12V battery can cause all kinds of weirdness. Here's hoping that ends the problems.
