They obviously don't want the help.

I'm gone.

To whoever did it finally,

Thanks sooo much for finally cleaning house. There must have been over 200 spam posts (including everybody---almost 100 of them from just 2 spammers alone). I couldn't believe my eyes last night---all of them finally gone. Thanks again!! Even so, a new spammer has just snuck 4 new spam posts (all reported) in here in the wee hours of the morning (I'm not complaining yet, just informing at this point).

Well, it looks like no moderator has cleaned house of the spam posts (or banned the posters of such) since before March 6th (& they've all been reported). The spammers also hit the "Announcements" category & it has no "!" icon to report spam with in that section. And in this very own "Help" section how does somebody like Dorybrone or Horse Sex even get to make posts in here with no registration or profile? Swanny just did a post in the "PriusOnLine" category, "Spammers" thread, yesterday or today offering his help/advice (privately) on how to keep this site spam free (the way his boards are). I think it's about time somebody contact him. This site really is in need of some outside help.

Pete & moderators,

As I asked in my last post, how do spammers like Horse Sex & Dorybrone get in here in the first place to spread their spam posts? They have no profile & therefore no post count, so can they be banned & their posts rounded up for deleting? Are they getting in as guests? But usually guests are identified as guests when they make their posts.

I think I have only seen 2 posts by Horse Sex (1 here in the "Help" section on March 11th, but I don't know where or when else). Dorybrone is also here in the "Help" section & has done at least 9 posts (maybe more in another section too) : on March 14, 18, 20, 25, 26, 2 on the 27th, 29, & one more today. Just check the author column, & he starts each new thread with the same title too.

Isn't anybody going to PM Swanny for some tips to make our site as spam free as his are?

Me again,

The magic number (of spam posts) is 50 (only 2 more) before somebody like stuv005 can be banned & have all his posts deleted (including the monster one in the "Private Sales" section), right? And when whoever does it, can you please rid this site of all the other reported spams & ban their posters (including the mysterious Horse Sex & Dorybrone). Thank you!

Hello out there,

Is the spam report'g log broken & nobody is seeing all these reports for the last 3 weeks? Since yesterday stuv005 has done 8 more spams (some of them really long too & others in French), so at a count of 56 now, he's gone over his limit (unless it's been changed now to some other number higher than 50). Seriously, somebody needs to get in touch with Swanny for his advice on controlling/blocking all these spam posts. There must be close to 150 reported spam posts (from all the posters combined) since March 6th. I wish I knew enough about computers to help out, but it seems like Swanny is offering some tips to alleviate the need to even have to deal with them if we can prevent them from being made in the first place.

I wrote this forum off a few weeks ago, but figured today I'd take a peek to see if things are any better. I see they're not. Ken, I admire your persistence, but it looks like you're one of only a handful of legitimate posters left.

I'm history.

Pete and/or moderators,

Well, so far today I have reported at least 20 (if not 25) spam posts that were made just today. It's been a month now since the last clean-up of spams & we just passed another weekend (which is when somebody said it was their only chance to do the clean-up work). That same person also said that it isn't any harder to dump out a big quantity of spams (by a single poster) than it was to delete just one, so why haven't they all disappeared yet? We must be at a total count of reported spams of at least 225 to 250 (maybe more) since the last deletions of a month ago. Is the spam log not working or something?

By the way, stuv005's spam count is now at 70 & there is another un-registered poster, viorndredadop [whose posts also don't get counted (so I don't know how you would find them all)] who has joined Horse Sex & Dorybrone with no profiles or post counts. How do they do it?

I know it seems like I'm the only one complaining, but just read this thread & see how many people have said they can't take all the spams any more and are leaving, never to return. Please, somebody e-mail Swanny & pick his brain to see how he keeps his site(s) so clean & free of spams. I guess nobody reads here any more (including the moderators or the owner).

Edit : Update as of 11:00 PM, April 7th : stuv005's spam count is now up to 85 [in one month!! (15 more just this evening, of which I was able to report 13)]. I hope somebody doesn't let him break 100. All of this is just too ridiculous for this site. I know nobody is reading this or something would have been done by now.

Edit : Another update on stuv005's spam count : As of 5:00 PM, Wed, April 8th, it's now up to98. Holy crap!! Why hasn't somebody shut him down before this?

Me again,

Just bumping up this thread to the top (don't know how long it will stay there) in the hopes that Pete or a moderator will finally see it this weekend & be able to do something finally. Just look at the edits of my previous post & see how stuv005's post count has progressed unchecked. Now as of just before midnight on Fri April 10th he now has made 128 spam posts in the period of only one month. And there are still more unregistered people getting in here & making spam posts that don't even get counted. And some spams appear in topics that don't have the "!" icon to report them, but I'm hoping they can too be deleted along with the other spams the same poster has made. I would venture to say we must be getting close to a total spam count (of all the posters) of around 300 now. Whoever deletes them all will have some work ahead of them. A please & thank you ahead of time for whoever does it.

Me again,

A slight bump again (rather than an edit to my previous post) because this thread got moved down around 9:30 this morning when stuv005 made some more spam posts (all reported) taking his count alone up to 135. I woldn't be surprised if he exceeded 150 by day's end if he doesn't get shut down soon.

Ken, I think it's a lost cause. I've sent PMs to Pete and he is not responding at all. I'm giving up on POL and just moving to PC.

Hi, firepa63,

I wish I had seen your post before I typed out a lenghtly PM to Pete explaining what's been going on here. It's plain to see that nobody with any deleting & banning authority has visited here in a while, so I just thought I would take a more direct approach. I didn't think I would be able to reach out to him that way because last time I tried was when the site was down & Evan Fusco over at PriusChat gave me Pete's e-mail. However, after typing out a message then, I discovered when I tried to submit/send it that my computer doesn't have/support Outlook Express 6.0 (which is apparently how most business e-mails are handled). I was surprised this time when I just clicked on his name as the author in one of his posts in the "Announcements" topic that I got a regular-looking PriusOnLine reply page, so I just got through using that (I think that went as a PM).

I hope everything is O.K. with Pete. The last time anybody did a cleanout here was March 6th & I don't know if it was him or not. I know in one of his replies within this thread, he said he only had time to look in here & do anything on the weekends. But it's been 5 weekends now since the last cleanout & nothing has been done to stop the rampant spread of all these spams. If Pete can't do it then didn't he appoint a few members as moderators to help out, or do they not have the authority/approval to ban the spammers & delete their posts? Maybe they can't access the spam log (or maybe it's broken as I wondered).

Too bad we have to lose you too because of all this. You've been a great contributor & we certainly will miss you. Please look back here once in a while to see if anything changes as far as a cleanout & come back to us if it does. Thanks for making me aware that you too have been trying to reach Pete (although with no success). Maybe Pete will see this (or my PM) & try to pick Swanny's brain to prevent these unwelcomed spammers from getting in here in the first place, then maybe we'll be getting somewhere.

To whoever finally did it,

A VERY BIG THANK YOU for cleaning out all those spams. Now maybe some of our former members will return here & we may even attract new members. The site is so much nicer with all those spams gone however (although I fear to be critical after so nice a cleanup) it does seem the job is not quite complete. There are 6 spam posts still here from March 7th (all reported back then) by uuuio061 & one that a new spammer (wendy929net) just snuck in that I reported right away.

And in my eagerness to try to stay ahead of the spammers, I think I just erroniously reported chithahn119. Noticing for the first time the one post I did report (due to the short comment & the description of his job position), it looked like a potential spammer, but after the report I decided to click on his profile to look at any other posts of his. Reporting him as a spammer (from seeing that one post I did report) is an understandable mistake, but it seems that out of his 5 posts, 4 would appear to be spams (due to their brief seemingly un-related comments) while the remaining one is surely a legitimate post. So he doesn't deserve to be banned due to my mistake. I hope the cleanup person & the original poster can forgive my mistake & that he will be allowed to remain a member.

One more thing : whoever you are who did the cleanup, could you just check the spam log once or twice a week & hopefully delete & ban on at least the same frequency (instead of once every 5 weeks)? Thanks again very much for doing it today. It was long overdue.

Hi, all,

I knew it was too good to last. 239 spams still in here now. Granted the seven I mentioned in my last post were missed from early March [six & the one from Wendy (which I mistakenly thought was new)]. All the other 232 of them have come in since the cleanout [183 of them today in only a couple of hours---they kept coming in faster than I could repot them (& 112 of them from just ONE poster)]. With the exception of Wendy's (with a NY phone number), all the rest come from foreign countries. Did we leave the back door open or something?

Yeah, looked like it was fixed... for about 10 minutes.

I am seriously wondering if this site has been specifically targeted by spammers, and its days are numbered. I'm sure this could be remedied if the owners cared, but it looks like it may be time to move on.

If you dedicated Prius owners move to another site, let me know and I'll join you. I have had about enough of this one.

Too bad; there's a lot of good history info stored here...
